Pavements
Paved patios, terraces and walkways are an integral part of any landscape project. Many landscape contractors install pavements, but few do so as well as much skill, competence and creativity as Genus Loci. We install a wide variety of pavement types, from natural stone to interlocking stone to porous pavements, all at competitive rates with a workmanship warranty to protect your investment.
We rise above our competition because we know what it takes to install durable pavements that won’t heave, shift or settle. We never cut corners when it comes to preparing the pavement base. We specify and use proper base aggregates to appropriate depths (based on anticipated loads and existing soil conditions), compacted to 100% proctor density (compaction testing available on request). We grade our pavements to strict deviation tolerances. Our dry-laid pavements are always grouted with a polymeric sand or screenings, and always incorporate edge restraints. Where necessary, we can also design and install storm drain systems to capture and convey water off your pavements.
Genus Loci has experience designing and installing the following types of pavements:
Natural Flagstone, Dry-Lay:
We install wide range of natural dry-lay (i.e., no mortar) flagstone sourced from local Ontario quarries, including random, jumbo (or oversized), and square cut stone.
Natural Flagstone, Wet-Lay:
Natural flagstone (random or cut) can be wet-laid (i.e., mortared) onto a prepared concrete base for a more “architectural” appearance, or where an aggregate base is not acceptable.
Interlocking Concrete Pavers:
Genus Loci is a certified installer of Unilock paving products, among others, and are highly skilled in the practice of “paver quilting” to create unique paving patterns and designs using different types of paving stone.
Porous Pavements:
Porous pavements are a key component of low impact development and water conservation strategies, and are integral to ecological landscaping. They can be constructed from a variety of different materials, including porous concrete pavers, specially formulated porous concrete and asphalt, and turf geogrids.
