We long to be near water, perhaps because we innately appreciate its life-giving properties.
Genus Loci specializes in “waterscaping” – the design and construction of landscape water features. We have both the technical knowledge and aesthetic sensibility required to custom design and build unique, beautiful and durable water features tailor-made for your property, large or small. We offer the expertise required to design, excavate, grade and landscape large earth ponds suited to larger rural properties where geotechnical and hydrological conditions are appropriate. We understand the environmental policies and legal constraints that apply to these projects, and know what is required to obtain the necessary permits.
We can also help you restore, rehabilitate and manage older existing ponds. Our pond renovation services include:

Genus Loci designs and builds lined ornamental ponds – including natural swimming pools - and water features such as waterfalls, creeks, aquatic gardens and bog gardens. Lined water features are suited to smaller project sites, or where hydrological and geotechnical conditions will not support an earth pond. Our designs sculpt the water features into your property, so that the look like they “belong”. We employ state-of-the-art liners, high-efficiency pumps and biofilters to ensure trouble-free operation, and use only high-quality, hand-picked granite and limestone to create stunning displays of water, stone and plants. Once the installation is complete, we provide you with operating and maintenance instructions so that you can take care of your waterscape, and we can also provide on-going maintenance support.
